Canada is full of extensive history, beautiful and diverse scenery, a vibrant people and culture. Over the past ten years it has witnessed a speedy change and a tremendous boom in interest both from the tourist sector and real estate investors, largely as the country chose a market-oriented policy. Like most countries, Canada offers a great scope of options when it comes to choosing "home". Below are some of the living accommodations for you to consider: - A room for rent. Some people who own a house or an apartment may rent out separate rooms in those dwellings. All of the tenants share the bathroom(s) and the kitchen. - A studio apartment. These apartments are small and were primarily designed for just one person. Most studios have a single large-sized room – which consists of a kitchen and a bedroom – and a separate bathroom. - An apartment. Apartments range in size from one to three bedrooms. They also consist of separate living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms. - A duplex. A duplex is a single home that has been split into two separate living areas. Each area is completely separate from the other, but residents may have a shared yard or driveway. - A townhouse. Townhouses are small houses which are built in rows, thus forming a chain. Most of the homes in the chain have a similar exterior. - A house. There are houses of all shapes and sizes in Canada. You can also choose to have a home built specifically to your specifications on an available lot. - A condominium. Condominiums are basically apartments or townhouses that are owned, not rented. Owners are responsible for all of the internal upkeep on the property and must pay property taxes. They also pay a condo association fee that covers the costs of exterior upkeep. Besides these types of living accommodation, there is another important choice for you to make: furnished or unfurnished. Throughout Canada, you can find furnished houses and apartments. This means that all of the necessary furnishings are included, such as beds and chairs. Furnished apartments and homes may be a good option when you are first moving to Canada, in particular if you are immigraing from a remote place, because the cost of transporting your own couches and beds could be rather costly. However, most people decided on an unfurnished "home", so that they can decorate in a way they see fit. Some unfurnished homes and apartments will still have kitchen appliances, such as refrigerators and stoves. Yet, housing costs can vary considerably, even within the same province. You can save cash on your housing, if you do some research and consider areas outside of major cities.
