The speedily growing economic pressure and the wish to create a happy stable family have caused Russian girls to turn to the West for better prospects. Marriages to overseas males have become a recent trend in Russia. The number of marriage services promoting cross-cultural marriages doubles yearly. For most Russian females to be a homemaker in Russia is a luxury. The changeable economic situation has forced females to seek jobs to provide for their families. Infrequent are cases when Russian men can earn enough, so that their wives can stay at home. Russian ladies find it very difficult to make a career and are lower-paid than their male counterparts. They are confident that marriage to a U.S. Citizen will enable them to find a better life for themselves. The ability to combine a career with domestic chores makes them excellent wives for western males. Due to the social and economic pressures a considerably huge percentage of Russian men have become alcoholics. More than that, Russian males usually spend time with friends, chase after other ladies, drink and are unwilling to help about the house. The present demographic situation in Russia is veyr acute, too. Girls outnumber males by about 12 percent in the age group of 30 and above. So, Russian ladies have fewer opportunities of finding a suitable husband in the fatherland. Those who lack confidence, put up with the terrible conduct of their husbands, others leave. Many Russian women suppose that overseas males make better life partners, as they are more decisive, family-oriented in comparison to Russian males, and will pitch in with the domestic duties. Hence, desperate Russian ladies leave the motherland in search of stable, financially secure life abroad. In their quest for a stable and financially secure life, Russian women are even ready to marry considerably older foreign males. As for overseas men, the rapidly increasing rate of divorce and a significant decline in family values have forced many western men to turn to Russian girls for emotional comfort. |
